The critical power model fit to vertical jump

(Die Passfähigkeit des Modells der kritischen Leistung auf vertikale Sprünge)

The Critical Power (CP) concept is accepted as good mathematical model to describe the relationship between power output and time to exhaustion. This model was formerly validated for weight lifting exercise and it has expanded for other modes of exercise as cycle ergometer, running, swimming and rowing. Jump is a skill frequently used during sports activities and training, and models that can describe its performance would be useful. The aim of present study was to investigate if vertical jump performed at different time intervals could be described by the CP model. It was observed that the impulse in the concentric phase was highly correlated with height in vertical jump (Bosco and Komi, 1979). Therefore, mathematical equations of CP model were adapted to vertical jump measuring the vertical round reaction force.
