      <content:encoded><![CDATA[The Training Subcommittee of the Association for the Scientific Studies on Judo prepared the "Standard Physical Fitness Tests for Judoists" in order to help form a training program as a means of improving the fundamental physical fitness of Judoists. A guide to the measurements of the standard physical fitness has been published in "Judo" (Vol. 38, Nos. 10, 11, 1967) and the "Evaluation Method of the Standard Physical Fitness Tests" has also been published in "Judo" (Vol. 39, No. 1, 1968).
In the present study, the result of one year of training was investigated in accordance with the physical fitness tests and evaluation method already mentioned.]]></content:encoded>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[The Training Subcommittee o f the Association for the Scientific Studies on Judo conducted a follow-up study o f the physical fitness of Judoists for 2 years, beginning in 1967, and investigated the characteristic features and the course of improvement of their physical fitness in order to formulate a better method of training to improve their physical fitness. The present paper mainly deals with the results of studies made in 1969, and compares them with those of observations made in 1967 and 1968, as a means of ascertaining changes of physical fitness of individuals and also of different weight groups.
With regard to the method of physical fitness tests, a detailed guide has been published in the journal "Judo" and the method of evaluation of the Standard physical fitness of Judoists has also been published in "Judo".]]></content:encoded>
